So you live in the City – how do you stay active and in touch?
3 Super Easy Ways!
Active Transport. A great way to get your 60 minutes of recommended exercise in per day is to walk or ride – to and from school in a safe way. It is important to find a safe infrastructure to accommodate this activity but once found – you will get your steps happening quickly and with a mission!
Local Council Planned Activities. Follow your local council to see what Free activities they have on for your age in and around the city. You may be surprised at what is on offer. A great example of this is Visible Ink in Fortitude Valley Brisbane, a great free space for young people to rehearse, create and meet.
Skate Parks – a fun and great way of exercising. Nearly every city has a skate park of some sort meet on the weekend for some socialising and exercise as you improve your skateboarding. You will have so much fun you won’t even realise you are exercising.
Progress takes place outside of your comfort zone. So if you comfort zone is staying inside in front of a screen just try for one week getting outside each day. When you get back after being outside, write down 10 words about how you feel and reflect on these at the end of the week.
Guaranteed at the end of the week you will feel excited about next weeks get out and go! Don’t forget your inner couch potato is your worst enemy!
