When I think I really don't want to exercise is when I need it the most

Why exercise? – the thought that tumbles through our brains when we know we should!  You have all heard the reasons why you should – but these are the few lesser known reasons that might help you get up and out there!

Being cooped up all day as we are during Covid ISO – exercise is even more important than usual!

 

  1. It charges your batteries.   30 minutes of exercise especially outdoors releases endorphins (good vibes in the brain) that give you energy, readjusts your mindset and lifts your mood.
  2. It helps you stay positive. Whilst we are isolated it is easy to “think” too much and depression can result from too many negative thoughts.   Exercise will release your happy hormones and help wash away the unhelpful thoughts.
  3. It helps you sleep. Exercise can contribute to a more restful and deep sleep.  Deep sleep is the most restorative phase of sleeping and during this time our bodies regroup, build resilience and aid in boosting our immune systems.
  4. Timing matters – exercising in the morning or early to mid-afternoon is best – this gives you body time to come down and be ready for bed time.
